Wallowa Lake Heaven

Woo hoo, we just returned from a fantastic trip to Wallowa Lake and are already missing our favorite mountain camping spot so much! That's OK, with God's blessing we get to go back next year :)

Wallowa Lake is all about fishing, and so are the Nichols men. Cameron landed a couple of big ones that will be put in the smoker in a day or two. Yummm....

Wesley always wanted to go to one of the floating docks, so they had their dinner on one of them. Cameron hadn't been on one since he was 2 years old!

The boys bought an all-purpose critter-catching net at the Joseph Hardware store and put it to good use. Here is Cameron's bull frog that he caught. He also netted two kinds of water/tree frogs which visited us in our camp for a few hours.

Wesley caught a big one as well, and it too is destined for the smoker. We'll enjoy smoked trout on our beach trip in August!

Wesley put his Scout skills to work starting our camp fires.

Angus loves the swimming at Wallowa. Bumpers, bumpers, bumpers!

The fish were definitely biting this year! One of Cameron's catches.

One of Wesley's catches. Both boys gave part of their fish to Fishin' Grandma, Marge Crow, on our way home.

We had an amazing thunder and hail storm one day. Large marble-sized hail was way too cool. Check out the piece in Cameron's hand! It pounded the trailer but no holes in the roof or the awning :)

Bumper boats are always a hit, and Bubba and Nanni got into the action by squirting the boys from the sidelines :)

The five of us (Bubba, Nanni, boys, and Mom - Dad had to go home mid-week and work) played mini-golf.

Bubba and the boys had a blast in the arcade.

More arcade fun.

Nanni and Wesley walking and chatting as we went to feed the large trout in the pond at the local bed and breakfast.

Lunch at the Embers Brew Pub, one of our favorite dining spots.

What goes great after lunch at Embers? Why, ice cream, of course!

Dinner at Russells by the Lake, another of our favorite restaurants.

A traditional July 4 picnic before the fireworks over the lake.

Woo hoo, fireworks over the lake and Nanni's special popcorn.

It was an awesome vacation, and contrary to the last few pictures, was filled with many, many things besides good food :) We hope you had a blessed 4th, and that you are as thankful as we are to live in this great country!
