Cameron earned his Tote-n-Chip card in Boy Scouts this year, thus qualifying him to use the axe (preferably out of sight of his mother). He did a great job preparing the fire wood for our first camp fire.
Since Cameron did the chopping, Wesley wanted to do the lighting (also preferably out of sight of his mother!). He too did a great job!
Molly decided she was thirsty, thus she took a shortcut on her way to the water bowl and decided to use the campfire water bucket instead. So much for fire safety...
Angus really thinks he's getting away with something big by snoozing on the bed in the trailer (on an approved blanket, of course). He thinks he's hit pay dirt when Dad hangs out with him.
Yea, Nanni and Bubba arrived on Tuesday, and the games began. We played games all the time...Monopoly, Doodle Dice, Skip-Bo, Pinochle (taught the boys how to play!), Super Scrabble, 5 Crowns, Quiddler, and the list goes on. We LOVE to play games in camp!
Mini golf is also very popular on our Wallowa Lake trips. Nanni and Bubba played with us on one day, and Dad, Bubba and the boys played two more courses later in the week.
Wesley and Bubba at our favorite restaurant, Russells at the Lake. We were sad to learn that Russells is for sale (after being owned by one family since 1954), but hopefully a new owner will keep it going...
Cameron and Nanni enjoyed Russells too...
The boys and the grandparents :)
Mmmm, ice cream for dessert after dinner at Russells...
Oh yea baby, GO KARTS! The boys and Bubba had the track to themselves.
It's always fun to feed the giant trout in the pond at the local B&B. Makes you want to get your fishing rod out...
Woo hoo, fireworks over the lake on July 4! Complete with Nanni's "traditional" popcorn made with bacon grease (watch out arteries). We had a thunder storm a few hours before the fire works, so the evening was cool...
Bumper Boats are another favorite activity at Wallowa. The boys had a blast getting squirted by the guy who runs the place and totes a Super Soaker :)
Bubba caught his limit on a great night of fishing from the canoe.
Nothing like playing in the mud at the edge of the lake. The weather was so nice that we all swam on several of the warmest days.
Cameron and Dad took a five mile hike one day. This helped Cameron meet another requirement of his Second Class Scout rank.
Angus was happy to go along in the boat to act as ballast...
Wesley's second great night of fishing. He limited one time, and caught two fish the other time.We are so blessed to live near such a beautiful place. We are thankful every year that God brings us to this awesome location!
