Tonight his Boy Scout Troop did a service project. They prepared and placed a couple thousand luminarias at the local American Cancer Society Relay for Life in Richland. Our friends, the Goodwins, were there, their son Aidan (Wesley's age) is a leukemia survivor.
Cameron proudly received his Tenderfoot rank this week in Scouts. It is the first of six ranks on his path to Eagle.
Today was the Awards Assembly at school, and Cameron was up and down several times to receive his awards. He received a certificate of achievement for Orchestra, a certificate of participation in Project Active (with his life skills buddy, Caleb), a Certificate of Appreciation from the Kennewick Police as a school patrol crossing guard, an Honor Roll certificate for awesome grades, and, most proudly, a President's Education Gold Award for outstanding academic excellence (it's signed by President George Bush, and US Secretary of Education, Margaret Spellings). The President's award required that he have at least a 3.5 GPA for 4th and 5th grades, plus outstanding test scores, plus a letter of recommendation from his teacher. He is very tickled with this award in particular :)We are so proud of this kid!
