Look! Mom finally blogged Jamboree!

Bad Mom, no blogging in almost two months. Guess we've been busy! This catch-up begins with the Boy Scout National Jamboree at Ft. AP Hill, Virginia.

Early morning photo before taking the bus to Spokane and hopping the plane to Dulles airport outside Washington DC. Cameron is in the front row, right side.

On the plane with friend, Kyler.

Touring began at the Botanical Gardens.

The US Capitol building! Can't believe he's there!

The boys in Jamboree Troop 712 at the Capitol.

Cameron really enjoyed Mt. Vernon, George Washington's home.

He also loved the war memorials, particularly Vietnam and Korea.

And it's on to the Jamboree! Note that there were more than 40,000 Scouts at this event, about the same population as the city of Richland, Washington. It was a logistics experience.

Cameron's home for about 10 days. Wish there was air conditioning...

Starting the patch collection.

The gateway to our Jamboree Troop's camping area. Each troop builds these elaborate gateways and some were amazing. For the non-Hanford-ites, this is a representation of B-reactor (historic nuclear reactor on the Hanford site, currently a local tour hot-spot :) Get it? Hot spot?)

Scuba! Bet that felt good in the heat. Cameron had the advantage of doing scuba on the hottest day or Jamboree. Poor Dad, up on the dock in the sun taking pictures!

Ready for the two-mile walk to the big arena show. Hot, hot, hot!

Railroading merit badge.

Dad and Cam with Pedro, the mascot for Boy's Life magazine.

At worship services on Sunday.

Hanging our with former Tri-City friends Margaret and Nathan Eacker (who now live in the DC area).

Metalworking merit badge. Cameron REALLY wanted to do this one!

The useful results of the Metalworking badge - a handy dutch oven lid lifter.

Oooh, goodies from home! Thanks Mom!

They even had LEGOS at Jamboree? Yep, Indiana Jones, life size.

Star Wars Storm Trooper, also life size.

Better living through chemistry! Cam loved this merit badge.

Museum of Natural History. This was the best of all the touring sites, according to Cam.

Mr. Nichols was worn out too :)

Home at last, some of the "goods" laid out for Mom to see.
