Vrrrroooooommmmm!

It's that time of year, Pinewood Derby time! We love this annual event, complete with cool cars, fun with friends, good snacks, and an overall great time.

It all begins weeks ahead of time (at least it would be WEEKS in a perfect world, but as we are not perfect it began only DAYS ahead of time this year) with the carving and painting of the cars. Wesley went for style this year, crafting the Anchovy Bus from Spongebob!

Cameron went for style also, choosing to craft an amazing dragon. Seeing the boys in their painting shirts brings back great memories for Mom, who always had an old Texaco shirt from Bubba to use as a painting smock when she was in grade school. The boys got two of Bubba's last work shirts before he retired :)

Wesley and part of Mom's Den 5 Bear Scouts wait in line for their chance to run their cars down the track.

Cameron waiting patiently with the Webelos Dens for their chance to race.

The final product for Wesley looked really cool. He had to take the middle wheels off for racing though, because they made the car too heavy :)

Cameron's awesome dragon, complete with sparkling wings and hand-drawn scales. Both of the boy's cars were a big hit with the kids at the race, and we had a fabulous time!
