Family Camp Fun

Well, we just returned from a FUN weekend at All-Church Family Camp with our First Pres family. It was a blast! The weather was beautiful, the pool was cool, the scavenger hunt was neat, the food was fabulous, and the fellowship and worship were amazing. We did crafts, went swimming, hiked, helped with camp chores, played with friends, played games in the dining hall, had super fun campfires with skits and s'mores, played baseball, visited, and participated in wonderful outdoor worship service on Sunday morning.

We are so thankful for the brothers and sisters we have in the Body. Two of our campers went hiking and suffered a fall, and as we sent search groups to locate them when they didn't return, others prayed for their safety, our parish nurse prepared to treat injuries, and we were intimately reminded of why Jesus calls us to worship together and take care of each other. (The hikers are OK, one suffered shock and the other went to the hospital and was treated and released, but they were both greeted with a round of applause at breakfast on Monday morning).

Cameron and Wesley got up and told jokes at campfire time. We had so much fun singing silly songs and doing the motions, campfire time was awesome.

Mmmm, marshmallows! Wesley jumped in there with everyone and got his marshmallows done to perfection.

Cameron rang the bell before church on Sunday morning.

We celebrated communion together, it is always an uplifting experience to sing and take communion together in God's great outdoors.

Mom led the children's worship craft. Pastor Kriss preached on the refiner's fire from Zecharaiah 13, very appropriate considering that the last two family camps had to be cancelled because of fires all around the camp. So Mom decided that we'd talk about how Ponderosa Pines can't propogate and release their seeds from the pinecones unless they are superheated, like in a fire. So we used pinecones and smeared them with peanut butter and birdseed and hung them in the trees to help out the birds who have lost habitat to the fires. Pretty good match to the sermon topic, don't you think? We had lots of fun making them.
