Wii Wii Wii All the Way Home!

Well, I guess you can chalk up another point in the "Mom said never, never, no way, take it to the bank, not going to happen" column. The LOSING column, that is. Mom promised that our family would NEVER have a game console, you know, the XBOX, Gamecube, Play Station, etc. kind. No, we figured the GameBoy and Nintendo DS handheld games were enough, the Nichols' didn't need a game console that attaches to the TV.

Sigh...

The Nichols' are now the proud owners of a Wii game system. For those of you who aren't up on game systems (just like me until a few days ago), Wii is pronounced WE. This thing is interactive, in that you physically move the remote around and play the games with your whole body, not just your fingers like most consoles. This is the very reason that Mom relented and got one, we didn't want any more games that require sitting still and exercising only your thumbs. It comes with Bowling, Golf, Tennis, Boxing, and Baseball, and the boys have been playing sports all afternoon. John, from next door, is now living at our house. His mom is disappointed that the only other game console hold-outs in the whole wide world (us) have relented. She says our punishment is we have to adopt John. I think it's time to stop saying "never" when it comes to children. It seems this went the way of "I'll never make my kids do the things my parents made me do!"

On another note, today was Scout Sunday at our church, a time for all Scouts to practice part of the Scout Law which says, "A Scout is Reverent." The boys were ushers at church today, and were featured prominently in the slide show on Scouting that ran on the screen while the speaker talked about Scouting at First Pres. It was a long morning, but we all had a great time!
