Ash Wednesday

The Nichols' Lenten journey has begun with a wonderful Ash Wednesday service at church. Wesley was delighted when he realized that this was the service where we have ashes placed on our foreheads as a sign that we belong to Jesus, and we are sharing together in the next 40 days!

We also have a tradition of writing down a burden or concern on a slip of paper, dropping it in the pot when we go up for communion, and "burning our burdens" in the pot after we all proceed outside. This year the boys each wrote down burdens and added them to the pot! They have also decided to give something up for Lent: Wesley is giving up gum, and Cameron is giving up barbecue chips. Now Mom has to be careful and remember to help them with their commitments :)

We wish all of you a blessed Lenten journey to The Cross...
